Ps. 32.10-11 (inside there is praise)
“Many griefs / are to the wicked, - but the one / who trusts in Yhwh – lovingkindness shall surround him. – Rejoice in Yhwh / and exult / you righteous ones – and shout aloud / all you upright / in heart.” As to the first verse, we have already covered; this is, in effect, a summation. However, as to the final concluding verse, it is important to note how the psalm ends ‘vocally’ as in contrast to the silence of sinful rebellion: “Rejoice”, “exult” and “shout aloud”. Furthermore, these singers are those who, as we have seen, stand ‘in Yhwh’, accepting his ‘counsel’; they are the ‘righteous ones’ and the ‘upright in heart’. They are, in the words of the opening, the ‘blessed’. And they are, therefore, those ‘hidden in Yhwh’ from the prowling of sin, iniquity and transgression. So, on the outside, there is silent rebellion, on the onside, there is liturgical exultation and praise.
